Snowballs
Ahh...snowballs. If you are from NOLA, there's no explanation necessary.
Summer means snowballs...a lot of snowballs!
The finest shaved ice... so many flavors.
Please, oh please do not equate them to snow cones...SO not the same.
I took the kids to Plum Street Snowballs yesterday...one of the most popular and oldest (est. 1945) in the city.

I am so glad that I was able to meet up with Kingston (and his lovely mommy) for a photo session.
He is adorable, LB...hope you like the photos.
He's a quick little guy...check out his moves
A break from the heat...
We all scream for ice cream!

Sweet Summer Treat
Update #2: I won the "Little Somethings" photo challenge this week!
Update: My entry was chosen as Kate's favorite of the week and as a finalist! Here's what she said about my photo:
Favorite this week! I absolutely love the composition - the focus on the strawberries with the child in the background is absolutely perfect.
I adore everything about this photograph!
I am also linking this shot up to The Paper Mama's "Favorite Photo from June" challenge.

Saying Goodbye...
It has been a tough 2 days of goodbyes to our Yonkers friends. Yesterday started on a bright note as we watched Remy graduate from Kindergarten. The graduates wore baseball caps with tassels instead of traditional mortar caps.
Receiving his diploma from the principal, Mrs. Browne
Doing his pirate impression with diploma
Remy with his wonderful teacher for the last 2 years, Mrs. DiNapoli.
With friends, Matthew and Nicholas
I should mention that the day was a sad one for Christ the King School where the boys attend because it is closing after 56 years. The community loved this school and it was hard to see everyone so upset. They did have a lovely send-off though.
Today we said more farewells at Alex's final baseball games. Here is Sophie with Jocelyn who was always so sweet with her. She loves the big girls.
Two CTK dads, Anthony and Jimmy who coached Alex in football, basketball, and baseball here. They are saying a few words about Alex leaving.
Alex's baseball teammates and classmates at CTK...Timmy, Jordan, and Anthony
He loved this
They really didn't want him to go...so sweet
We really are going to miss it here...the families we've met have been good to us.

Strawberry Fields Forever
Ok...no fields...more like a basket of strawberries on our patch of yard, but I do love these shots! I just want to take a minute to reflect on my photography journey thus far. I started to get a little more serious about picture-taking a bit over a year ago. I've grown alot, but still have a hard time calling myself a photographer. I usually say, "I do some photography." In this year, I have enjoyed experimenting and trying to pinpoint my "style." I think it's only natural to evolve from strictly traditional portraits and candids to something a little more artistic (e.g. the shot of a headless Sophie below...that I LOVE). I find myself drawn to this style of photography more and more. Detail shots with creative crops and composition. I am also trying to shoot more daily life pictures because those are what every parent wants to remember years from now. I'm glad I get to experiment with my kiddos...because I totally get that most clients want heads and sweet little faces in their child's photos :) And don't misunderstand-I still love a great portrait!
