I've posted a similar photo of Sophie with her monkey finger puppet, but I'm happy to share another one.  After all, the elephant and lion puppets are cute too (as are the little hands).

I Heart Faces-Slice of Life

"Slice of Life" is the theme this week at I Heart Faces...no posing, no shot set-up...just a photo of everyday life.  Sophie loves to walk across the elevated pavers that line the driveway.  I like the lines and symmetry here, but the best part of this shot is the "concentration tongue" as she does her best balancing act.  Ever wonder why people often stick out their tongues while concentrating?  Click here to see an explanation  :)

11 Years Ago...

Frame Project

So I took this picture that I love so much and had it made into a 12x18 print (which is a wonderful size and you don't have to worry about the aspect ratio cropping like in an 8x10, etc.)  I also painted and distressed a frame and hung it in Sophie's room.  Here's the result...I kinda like it :)

The theme at The Paper Mama is "Green" this week, and I immediately thought of this photo.  It is from last Spring.  It may be a while before things really "green-up" around here this year...more light snow is called for this week :)

Just Tuesday

Well, my boys are at school, and it's a regular Tuesday here in NY just like most of the country.  But down in New Orleans, today is Mardi Gras!  I get a little sad this time every year wishing I could be there, but this year especially.  Maybe it was looking at the photos of my friends online.  Many of them have children now, of course, and it makes me long to share this unique holiday and its wonderful traditions with my own kids.  Or perhaps it is knowing that our upcoming move will most likely be overseas again, and my chances of making it to Louisiana for Mardi Gras in the next few years (I always hope) are slim to none.  My husband and I "quizzed" the kids on some NOLA terminology the other day, and there is a lot they don't know.  They do very well on food...they know po boys, snowballs, and red beans on Monday.  Can you tell food is a high priority in my family?   :)

Anyway, here's a photo of Sophie sporting her purple, green, and gold for Mardi Gras.  New Orleans most definitely has a lot of problems, BUT all of the good things in the "most unique city in America" will always outweigh the bad in my opinion :)  So, Happy Mardi Gras....Laissez les bons temps rouler!
